ENDING ON HIGH NOTES!
Marathon Sunday is a special NYC tradition and we can’t wait to show the world how Brooklyn welcomes the athletes who come from all over to set their personal best! Join us Sunday, Nov. 3 on #FABMile8, the stretch of Lafayette from Flatbush into Clinton Hill; grab a sign or a cowbell from our team and claim your spot on the sidelines as all the marathoners make their way through the borough. No doubt, it will be a raucous scene with music and cheering; marathon energy is through the roof! It’s the perfect brunch backdrop, too — many area eateries will be open early for reservations. Check out Black Forest Brooklyn, Deniz Mediterranean, Fancy Free, Fritz Cocktail Bar, Endswell, DSK, Babacool, Fulton Hall, and more.
Let’s spread love the Brooklyn way even more: bring a gently used warm coat for our collection box in Fowler Square (Fulton + Lafayette). We’ll be taking donations for the annual New York Cares Coat Drive from 8 a.m. to noon. In addition, if you have extra Fresh Direct bags lying around at home, bring those, too: local non-profit organization One Community needs them for their upcoming Thanksgiving deliveries. See you out on #FABMile8!
And if you don’t plan to join the Marathon festivities, you should be aware of all the race closures and routes; go here for complete race details.

PLAZA SEASON HAS ENDED
Even though Mother Nature (and climate change) has gifted us warmer autumn days, the season has ended for our public plazas in the district. According to the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT), plaza season is April 1 through October 31. So, the plaza furniture (tables, chairs, and umbrellas) will not be placed out daily and instead remain stored and locked for the winter season. You are welcome to enjoy the public plazas via adjacent seating such as the silver benches and areas around the statue (in Fowler Square) or the boulders (in Gates Avenue Plaza).
COMMUNITY VISIONING WORKSHOP – NOV. 18
Join NYS Empire State Development (ESD), State Senator Jabari Brisport, State Assemblymember Phara Souffrant Forrest, State Attorney General Letitia James, and City Councilmember Crystal Hudson for a community visioning workshop about 1024 Fulton Street and help shape the future of the site. RSVP here for the event at PS 56 (170 Gates Ave), 6:30 pm.
